Beijing at 15: UNFPA Partners Charting the Way Forward (UNFPA)
The report analyses the contributions of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) through its main partnerships, to achieving the commitments made at Beijing in 1995 and those made at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo in the previous year. It highlights the shared agendas in the ICPD Programme of Action, the Beijing Platform for Action and the Millennium Declaration and Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The report has recommendations for development partners to accelerate progress towards meeting the goals of all these conferences, with a focus on gender mainstreaming in all programmes and policies.

Enhancing women’s political participation: a policy note for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (UNDP - Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS)
The results of 6 national roundtable discussions organized in 2008 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine as well as a regional conference in Turkey in December 2008 are reflected in the policy note published by UNDP Office in Bratislava. The document acknowledges that the status of women in the region has improved substantially; however, there is no country in the ECIS region that "has achieved gender balance in high-level decision-making bodies." The policy note provides recommendations on how to increase women’s political participation.

Virtual Knowledge Centre to end Violence against Women and Girls

This is a new platform launched by the United Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). Bringing together existing and cumulative experience, know-how and resources from around the world, it aims to support practitioners in effective design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and programmes.

Women’s Empowerment Principles – Equality Means Business
Launched by the United Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the UN Global Compact (UNGC) this document calls on the business community to implement recruitment and retention practices that advance women’s empowerment and urges them to proactively appoint women at the managerial level.

A/HRC/13/20 - Report of the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing as a component of the right to an adequate standard of living, and on the right to non-discrimination in this context, Raquel Rolnik

sports events on the realization of the right to adequate housing, provides an overview of the practices and procedures of the International Olympic Committee and International Association of Football Federations, especially on their bidding and selection process for host cities and countries.

This report is the annual report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navanethem Pillay, on the activities undertaken in 2009 by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to implement its mandate.

Human Rights Education in the School Systems of Europe, Central Asia and North America: A Compendium of Good Practice (OHCHR)
Published jointly with OSCE/ODIHR, the Council of Europe and UNESCO and designed for primary and secondary schools, teacher training institutions and other learning settings, the new tool, which collects 101 exemplary practices from Central Asia, Europe and North America, is a valuable resource for teachers and education policymakers. It provides resource materials relevant to key elements for successful human rights education, including 1) laws, guidelines and standards; 2) learning environment; 3) teaching and learning tools; 4) professional development for educators, and 5) evaluation.
