UNESCO's Open Training Platform
The UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has added a new partner to its Open Training Platform. The Open Training Platform is a collaborative tool to share and promote “open” training materials. The posted materials are free and accessible for non-commercial purposes such as teaching, learning and research. Categories cover the many aspects of UNESCO's programme, and include conversational language courses, information management, and conflict prevention. RSS feeds available for all new content, or specific topics, e.g. ethics or environment.

UNAIDS publishes a new "Report on the global AIDS epidemic" every two years. The 2008 Report is the most comprehensive report on the response to AIDS. It includes data from 147 countries against 25 core targets.

The EU Diet – Evolution, Evaluation and Impacts of the CAP (FAO)
People on the shores of the Mediterranean have used higher incomes to add a large number of calories from meat and fats to a diet that was traditionally light on animal proteins. What they now eat is “too fat, too salty and too sweet”.

Make it matter: 10 key advocacy messages to prevent HIV in girls and young women (UNFPA)
This guide was launched by the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with other agencies. According to the UNFPA press release, “Make it Matter” focuses on three goals that are recognized as important components of a successful response to the epidemic: the improvement of the access to sexual and reproductive health for girls and young women; the expansion of socio-economic opportunities for girls and young women; and the end of child marriage.

The right to primary education free of charge for all: ensuring compliance with international obligations (UNESCO report)
According to this new report published by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), primary schooling is not free in many developing countries. The report examines the role of governments in the debate on the right to a free primary education.

UNICEF interactive tools
The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) has launched two new interactive tools. “UNICEF Newsmap” is a Google Maps interface that provides users a new way to find multimedia news stories about UNICEF’s programmes. “Text Us” allows people around the world to send comments to UNICEF via their mobile devices.
