On 4th February 2019, United Nations Cinema will be screening On Her Shoulders at Pálás Cinema, Galway, Ireland.

After surviving the 2014 genocide of the Yazidis in Northern Iraq and escaping sexual slavery at the hands of ISIS, 23-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad gave a testimony before the U.N. Security Council that was heard around the world. Nadia suddenly became the face of the Yazidis – a historically persecuted and voiceless religious minority. This screening is organised in partnership with the Irish department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and The UN Refugee Agency Ireland (UNHCR).

The screening will be followed by a conversation with guest speakers: Ahmed Khudida Burjus, Head of Yazda UK & Ireland; Áine Hearns, Director of the Conflict Resolution Unit, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ireland; Jody Clarke, Senior External Relations Associate UNHCR Ireland; moderated by Caroline Petit, Deputy Director of UNRIC.
