Press Briefing: SDG Special Adviser Dr. David Nabarro, on the SDGs and their impact on Europe

Special Adviser on 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Dr. David Nabarro will talk about the 2030 agenda and the SDGs, with a special focus on the impact of the goals on Europe and its citizens. He will elaborate on some issues that are of concern to Europeans when it comes to practical, financial and sustainable questions:

Dr David Nabarro, Special Adviser on 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
The Special Adviser will work with Member States and other relevant stakeholders to galvanize action on implementation of the Agenda, while also overseeing the Secretary-General’s special initiatives.
Since September 2014, he has served as Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Ebola, providing strategic and policy direction for the international response. From 2005 to 2014 he was Senior Coordinator for Avian and Pandemic Influenza. From 2011 to 2015, he served as Coordinator of the Movement to Scale Up Nutrition, and since 2009 he has been the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Food Security and Nutrition, a position he will continue to hold.
Dr. Nabarro has more than 30 years experience in public health, nutrition and development work at the national, regional and global levels, and has held positions in non-governmental organizations, universities, national Governments and the United Nations system.

Press Briefing: President of the UN General Assembly, M. Mogens Lykketoft
Subject:
The main focus of the visit are current issues at the UN and the EU agenda. During the press briefing, Mr. Lykketoft will elaborate on the SDG implementation (including the Secretary-General's signing ceremony of the Paris climate agreement in New York), the refugee crisis and the election of the next UN Secretary-General. During his Brussels’ visit he will have meetings with EU high-level officials, including Juncker, Mogherini, Timmermans, Schulz, Georgieva, Mimica, Stylianides etc.

President of the seventieth session of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Mogens Lykketoft
On 15 June 2015, the United Nations General Assembly elected Mogens Lykketoft of Denmark to serve as the President of its seventieth session, which runs from September 2015 to September 2016. At the time of his election, Mr. Lykketoft was the Speaker (President) of the Danish Parliament, a position he has held since 2011. Mr. Lykketoft is an economist by training and a veteran parliamentarian and government minister. As chairman of the Social Democratic Party from 2002 to 2005, he was also the opposition leader in Parliament.
