The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction provides an opportunity to try some innovative and creative ideas to raise awareness about disaster risk reduction. For example, in 2011, a Twitter Wall was setup at the venue and over 3000 tweets were generated using the hashtag for the event, where people shared information, news, and engaged on the issues.
With thousands expected to attend this year's event in Geneva, Switzerland, from 19 to 23 May, there is an opportunity before, during and after the event for partners, stakeholders, and the public to contribute to the discussions on reducing disaster risks and building resilience.
