UN Forum 2012 - largest UN civil society conference in the UK

unforum ukOn 14 July 2012 the United Nations Association – United Kingdom (UNA-UK) will hold UN Forum 2012, the organization's biggest event of the year and the largest UN civil society conference in the UK. The Conference will bring together UN experts, policy-makers and people from all walks of life to discuss some of the pressing challenges facing the international community, and produce innovative ideas on how to build a safer, fairer and more sustainable world.

Some of the challenging debates and discussions that will take place at this year's forum include Seven billion people: challenge or opportunity?, Does it still make sense to talk about 'universal' human rights?, and a keynote speech entitled What next for the UN?, delivered by former UN Deputy Secretary-General, Lord Malloch-Brown. Dialogue of this nature helps to develop much needed discourse on some of the most pressing global issues extant, and solutions that the international community can offer.

To contribute to this dialogue the UN Forum 2012 boasts a rich array of speakers and participants including, Dame Margaret Anstee, former UN Under-Secretary-General, Afsane Bassir-Pour, Director of the UN Regional Information Centre and Dr Babatunde Osotimehin, Executive Director, UN Population Fund. The Forum promises to be a thoroughly engaging and informative experience for all its attendees.
