Live Windows Project: International Day of Peace, 21 September

<< Back to Live Windows Project

To celebrate the International Day of Peace, 21 September, a series of "Live Windows" were screened in Milan, Barcelona and Munich.

"Adaptation" (left), was produced by Fabrica residents Gastón Lisak, Manuel Favarin and Jhon William Castaño Montoya. Here is what they had to say about their video:

"The concept behind the video is that the way to reach peace is difficult and slow. However, we believe that it can be done. In the final image of the dove, the sizes of the countries do not correspond to reality. They have been modified because the idea is that each single country has to do its part and adapt to the rest in order to arrive at a sustainable peace. The melody composed for this video aims to convey the message that music is a universal language, which can be understood by anyone. If there is good communication among people, dialogue can arise and lead to a sustainable change."

The below contributions for the International Day of Peace were produced by students from ELISAVA - Escola Superior de Disseny i Enginyeria de Barcelona - and Mediadesign Hochschule (MD.H) für Design und Informatik, from Germany - as part of continued efforts by Fabrica and UNRIC to promote youth creativity around issues of importance to the United Nations

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. This year, world leaders, together with civil society, local authorities and the private sector, met in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development to renew political commitment to long term sustainable development.

It is in the context of the Rio+20 Conference that “Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future” is the theme chosen for this year's observance of the International day of Peace.
